I Get Back What I Put In

by FAITH CITY CHURCH
APRIL 8, 2024

SCRIPTURE:

He who earnestly seeks good finds favor, But trouble will come to him who seeks evil. (Proverbs 11:27)

DEVOTIONAL:

As we enter into this week, it's crucial to understand that everything unfolds according to a divine purpose, and every outcome is preceded by a cause. Whether we are striving for financial prosperity, seeking happiness, or endeavoring to accomplish tasks, we must have clarity about the desired outcome. In most cases, by studying the experiences of those who have achieved what we aspire to, we can replicate their success. Therefore, success is not merely a stroke of luck or a miraculous event; it's a consequence of intentional actions and mindset.

The principle of sowing and reaping, as mentioned in the Bible, underscores this truth. Our thoughts have creative power, shaping the conditions of our lives. By aligning our thoughts with God's truths and principles, we can transform our lives. It's essential to recognize that we have the freedom to choose our thoughts and actions. We are not bound by circumstances or emotions; rather, we sow seeds of thoughts and reap corresponding outcomes.

We must evaluate what we prioritize in life—our family, health, finances—and assess the inputs and outputs in each area. Honesty with ourselves is paramount as we reflect on the quality of our thoughts and their impact on our lives. This week presents an opportunity for a shift in our thinking. As Proverbs 11:27 reminds us, those who seek good find favor, while those who pursue evil invite trouble. Likewise, Luke 6:38 emphasizes the principle of reciprocity—what we give out is returned to us in abundance.

Let us commence this week with a deliberate focus on sowing positive thoughts and actions, aligning ourselves with God's purposes. By investing in the right mindset and actions, we position ourselves to receive the blessings that God has in store for us. I look forward to journeying with you in this pursuit. Until next time, may God guide our thoughts and actions. Amen.

Who Told You They Set The Bar?

by FAITH CITY CHURCH
APRIL 15, 2024

SCRIPTURE:

I can do all things through Christ, which strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13)

DEVOTIONAL:

Let's begin this week with an inspiring story. A colleague of mine was entrusted with a challenging project. Not only did they complete it, but they did so with excellence, garnering praise from all corners of the department. At the awards ceremony, someone approached them, questioning their commitment to excellence. "Why do you set the bar so high?" they asked. "You make the rest of us look bad, and we'll have to work even harder because of it."

But here's the truth: our work isn't just for human approval. We do everything in our lives, including our professional endeavors, for the glory of Christ. As Philippians 4:13 reminds us, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

Consider the astonishing words of Jesus in Mark 11:23: "For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says." Let's embrace this level of faith, surpassing any bar set by others and achieving the impossible.

This week, we refuse to be defeated. As 2 Corinthians 2:14 declares, "Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place."

Let's rise to our fullest potential. Who says anyone else gets to set the standard? We strive for excellence in everything we do, knowing that it is all done for Christ. Believe in yourself, take charge of your week, and let Christ's strength guide you to victory.
